The latest update for Pokemon Go version 0.331.0 came out on September 16, hoping to fix bugs and improve the game. However, many players say that while some problems were fixed, others showed up, especially with the Go Plus devices used in the game.
Go Plus devices allow players to catch Pokémon and grab items at PokéStops without holding their phones all the time. However, after the update, users reported that the device no longer works properly. They say it stops working if a Pokémon isn’t visible on the screen or if the app isn’t the focus.
Pokemon Go Hub tweeted that if they switch to another task or lock their screen, the device disconnects in less than a minute. When they open the game again, the device starts working.

Lots of players tried different ways to fix the trouble, such as deleting and reinstalling the app or restarting their devices. But none of these ideas worked. Even after another small update, 0.331.1, came out on September 19, the issue still exists. Some people were able to go back to version 0.329.2 for a while, but now Niantic has forced the new update, so players are stuck.
Complaints keep coming on social media and Reddit. A Reddit user from TheSilphRoad explained they tried everything possible but still had no luck. Some people are also upset on Twitter. One user said that Go Plus is almost useless until it gets fixed. Another mentioned Go++ has the same problem.
Interestingly, not everyone has these issues. Some players say their Go Plus devices work as they should after the update. This hints that the problem isn’t happening for everyone.
Even though many people are asking for a solution, Niantic hasn’t said anything about the problem yet. How long might it take for them to address this? For now, players depending on Go Plus are just hoping things will get fixed quickly since the device plays a big part in their Pokémon Go journeys.
