Sony is planning to introduce a new flagship series camera sensor called IMX989. The sensor is first rumoured to release last year. The IMX989. sensor is arriving as an annual flagship from Sony and is expected to debut with Xiaomi 12 Ultra, Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone.

On Weibo, Tipster Digital Chat Station specs of Sony’s IMX989 sensor. According to the tipster, Sony’s 50-megapixel sensor will arrive with the IMX989 moniker. He further said that this sensor is close to 1–inch (hypothetical) in size. It will debut with the Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone.
About Xiaomi 12 Ultra
Xiaomi 12 Ultra smartphone to launch in China in May 2022. It will come with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1+SoC, which is the upgraded version of the vanilla snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC.
It might come with a 6.73-inch 2k AMOLED Curved display and 120Hz display. The rear camera setup will include a 50-megapixel primary sensor with OIS, 48-megapixels Ultrawide with OIS, and a 48-megapixels telephoto lens with 120x zoom support.
The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will come with a 4900mAh battery supporting 120W fast charging. It will also pack stereo speakers and features an IP68 water resistance rating. It will ship with Android 12 out of the box.
